Gaige Ross is our resident expert when it comes to the intricacies of solar panel systems – with good reason.
Before we were lucky enough to entice him to join Smart Ease, Gaige was National Manager of a team of residential solar salespeople. This gave him a deep understanding and appreciation of the solar industry – and the technology that underpins it – as well as a keen sense of buying drivers for solar.
Gaige recently relocated from New Zealand to the UK to head up our London-based sales team. He made time this week to chat with us about what gets him out of bed in the morning, what drives him, and the advice that fuels his productivity.
How long have you been with Smart Ease?
I joined the team about 2.5 years ago. I worked in New Zealand, where I’m originally from, until late 2022 before relocating to the United Kingdom.
What do you do every day?
I’m a Sales Director, so I’m the first point of contact for our network of Channel Partners across the UK.
My days are busy and varied – I could be meeting with a solar business to discuss becoming a Channel Partner, helping a Channel Partner with a funding application or training a team of sales reps on payment solutions and financial concepts.
What’s been the highlight of your time at Smart Ease so far?
Definitely the opportunity to relocate to the UK as part of my role. The growth and market opportunity for commercial solar here is very exciting, and it’s a great adventure for my family.
What motivates you to bounce out of bed and come to work?
Working with different organisations in the decarbonisation ecosystem to be a part of the energy transition – as well as a driving force with solutions for businesses and organisations.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
A goal without a plan is just a wish.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A steak and cheese pie – but it has to be a good one! We are proud of our pies in New Zealand, so I’m looking forward to sampling some in the UK to see how they stack up.
