The Piccadilly Hotel is a charming Victorian-style hotel located in the heart of Bournemouth.
Like most accommodation, it’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which means its energy costs tend to be high – lighting, heating and cooling are used around the clock.
After years of continually rising energy prices, Piccadilly Hotel owner Gerry Wilton decided the time had come take control of the hotel’s energy bills by investing in a solar system.
Gerry contacted the team at Redbridge Property Services to design a solar PV solution that would make optimal use of the hotel’s large roof space. Following a site inspection, Redbridge’s Craig Smith recommended a 37.8kW system comprised of 84 Tina solar panels.

System size: 37.8kW
Equipment:
84 x Trina solar panels
1 x Growatt Inverter
Payment Plan term: 3 years
To manage the cost of the installation, Gerry chose to use a Smart Ease Payment Plan. This allowed him to avoid the upfront cost completely and pay for the system with manageable monthly repayments instead. The flexibility meant that he could simply reallocate the hotel’s existing energy budget to its solar investment.
The win
Piccadilly Hotel’s solar system is expected to generate 32,183kW of electricity per year and save 6,783kg of carbon emissions from entering the atmosphere.
Most impressive of all, it’s estimated to generate a huge £233,645 in energy bill savings over the next 25 years.
For Piccadilly Hotel owner Gerry Wilton, the whole experience was “incredibly easy and quick to deal with…I was very pleased.”
